Tonight: ‘Miss Representation’ Documentary Screening

As part of our celebration of Women’s History Month here on campus, all Full Sail students are welcomed to attend a free screening of documentary film Miss Representation tonight at 6:00 p.m. in the Entertainment Business Auditorium.

Written and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, Miss Representation exposes how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. The film challenges the media’s limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself.

Stories from teenage girls and provocative interviews with politicians, journalists, entertainers, activists, and academics (including Condoleezza Rice, Nancy Pelosi, Katie Couric, Rachel Maddow, Margaret Cho, Rosario Dawson and Gloria Steinem) build momentum in the film as startling facts and statistics are sure to leave audience members shaken and armed with a new perspective.

The screening will be followed by a short Q&A forum. Learn more about Miss Representation by visiting the film’s website, and be sure not to miss this event!
