Students Learn How to Program the Classic Video Game ‘Duck Hunt’

A little over thirty years ago, Nintendo Entertainment System released Duck Hunt, a shooter video game where players use a light gun to target cartoon ducks flying across a television screen. At the time, and as someone who had the original console, the game sparked the imagination by begging the question, “How does this work?”

Recently, a group of Full Sail students got to learn how to program Duck Hunt in just a couple hours. Hosted by the Web Design and Development campus degree program, a packed room was lead by Department Chair Scott Wainman and Course Director Crystal Silvestro who demonstrated how to use intermediate to advanced JavaScript programming techniques to build the game from start to finish. This included page construction, the best order for building the game, and other best practices proving that it is possible to learn how it all works.
