Student Club Spotlight: Bike League

The newest club on Full Sail’s campus (so new it was just officially formed last week) is the Bike League, the creation of Full Sail Film department Lab Specialist David Baldwin. David – who has ridden his bike to work every day for the past 13 years (that’s more than 50,000 miles, he says) – wanted to form a group for students looking for bicycle maintenance and safety tips and who want to get together and ride.

“It’s mainly for safety and fun, says David. “We’re not BMX riders, we just want to help people who use bicycles as transportation with maintenance and safety tips.”

There haven’t been any group rides yet, but organization for future ones is under way. David’s favorite spots around campus include the Cady Way and Econ trails, and he said ultimately it will be up to students to decide where they want to go.

Students interested in joining the Bike League need to just join the club’s group on Connect. The first official meeting announcement will be updated soon via that page, and the club is also looking for students to fill various leadership positions. But, according to David, “Hopefully [the club will be] more about riding than having meetings. It’s about getting away from your computer for a bit and riding your bike.”
