Over 50 students were involved in bringing the classic 80’s rocker Jem from Jem and the Holograms to life last month at the Full Sail Live Venue. Entertainment Business Master’s graduate Latoya Pritchard teamed up with her former course director Nick Carver as co-producers for a night of glitter, glamour, and music. The event was a concert and fashion show hybrid that featured many popular songs from the TV show as well as other classic hits from the 80’s.
Alum Latoya directed the student-run production, and students filled roles that included casting, wardrobe, and choreography. The free event was open to the public and over 300 Jem fans in were in attendance – many who even dressed up in costumes to imitate the glamorous cartoon singer.
The truly outrageous part of this entire evening was the special guest appearance by Samantha Newark – the original voice actress of Jem and Jerrica. “Everyone in the cast and all the production crew worked so hard and we had a sold out house! It was ‘like a dream’ and so special to be asked to be a part of this show,” Samantha said on her Instagram page.
