The Grammys are something of a big deal for students at Full Sail University – and it’s not just because a large segment of the student body has dreams about working in the music industry. Full Sail graduates have mixed, recorded, or assisted on 17 GRAMMY®-winning Album of the Year releases over the past 20 years, and 2011 was no exception to the rule, with a total of 74 grads on nominated projects (including every nominee for the coveted Album of the Year).
To celebrate the event and its significance to the school, Full Sail hosted a private GRAMMY® Viewing Party the night of the award ceremony in the Full Sail Live Venue. And much like the actual ceremony, guests entered the event by walking a red carpet where they could plug their upcoming projects and shine some spotlight on the designers they were wearing (more Target than Prada, but hey, we’re talking college students here).
Once inside, guests were able to watch the event in the venue and root for the Full Sail-related projects, enjoy televised performances from the likes of Eminem, Arcade Fire, Lady Gaga, and more. During commercial breaks, Director of Alumni Relations Jay Noble engaged the audience with fun GRAMMY® facts, trivia, and offered up prizes from Apple, DigiDesign, PreSonus, and more. Sure beats watching the show from your couch!
