Local film lovers will be happy to see this week kick off of the 11th annual Global Peace Film Festival, which will be held in venues in Orlando and Winter Park. The event was founded in 2002, with the mission to “utilize the power of the motion picture to further the goal of peace on earth.” This year’s festival will feature over 40 films from around the globe, and we’re excited for 2012 Film graduate Fabian Morales whose documentary is among the selections.
Fabian is the director of Take Me Home, which offers an insightful look at homelessness in the Orlando area, and the efforts to find adequate shelter for those in need. Work on the project started while he was still a student at Full Sail, and has already been warmly received on the festival circuit – including a screening at the Ola Film Festival this February.
The Global Peace Film Festival runs from September 17 to 22, with Take Me Home scheduled to show at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday the 19th and 5:30 p.m. on Sunday the 22nd.
