The overall mood of Never Let Go is pretty somber: an unfortunate chain of events unfolds after a woman refuses to evacuate her home in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. We can’t really sugarcoat that. But, we were happy about the intricate sets and impressive special effects that the students incorporated into the movie, and were excited to get to see some behind-the-scenes footage from the filming.
Never Let Go is accompanied by Never Give Up, an eight-minute documentary shot and directed by Film grad Justin Montgomery during Never Let Go‘s filming. It answers all of our questions, including how the detailed attic set was built and how they made it look like the house was flooding. (It involved underwater cameras and shooting in a dumpster.)
Check out both the film and the documentary below.
