Film students, filmmakers, film lovers: the 22nd Annual Florida Film Festival kicks off this Friday, and for 10 straight days, dozens of filmmakers and guests from the industry will be in town to take part in film screenings, seminars, and more. Full Sail has been a primary sponsor of the festival for years now, but beyond that, our faculty members and grads have also contributed by showcasing their own work and participating in industry panels and other events.
We’ve already told you about the three films and shorts with Full Sail involvement screening at this year’s festival, but check out these other events with Full Sail involvement, too:
“Anatomy of a Short Film.” The Florida Film Festival comes to campus for this event, a panel of industry experts and Full Sail Film faculty members discussing the production and distribution of short film projects. This event will be held on Wednesday, April 10, at 1:30 p.m. in the Entertainment Business Auditorium.
Popcorn Flicks in the Park. Film program director Anne Watters will introduce this year’s Popcorn Flick in the Park – The Sting, a 1970s classic caper film about con men and the mob set in the 1930s. It takes place on Tuesday, April 9 at 8 p.m. in Winter Park’s Central Park.
“Perseverance: Women in the Industry.” Anne Watters will also be a part of this event, as the moderator of a panel about women working in the film industry. The panel will feature industry veterans Sari Gilman (Ghosts of Abu Ghraib), Brooke Sebold (Red Without Blue), Susan Seidelman (Sex and the City), and Sylvia Caminer (An Affair of the Heart). This event will be held on Friday, April 12 from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Enzian.
All three of these events are free and open to the public. To check out other featured events and films screening during the festival, visit floridafilmfestival.com.
