Entertainment Business Grad Honored by International Association of Venue Managers

The International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) and the IAVM Foundation have announced the inaugural 30|UNDER|30 class of 2015, which honors emerging talent in the venue management field. Among those selected is 2006 Entertainment Business grad Whitney Bishop, who was nominated by Steve Romer, chief executive of the Venue Management Association of Asia/Pacific.

“Whitney worked closely with Romer in Sydney, Australia prior to taking on her current role with SMG in Richmond, Virginia,” says Sarah Rogers, Director of Development, IAVM Foundation. “Whitney currently serves as the Marketing Manager for the Richmond Coliseum, Carpenter Theatre, and Altria Theatre.”

All nominees were asked to submit a four-minute YouTube video answering five questions about their careers and the industry. Submissions were carefully evaluated by a selection committee composed of venue industry leaders. “All 30 of our 2015 candidates were chosen for their professionalism, creativity, and industry insight,” says Sarah.

30|UNDER|30 recipients receive full complimentary registration to VenueConnect in Baltimore and a one-year complimentary Young Professional IAVM Membership. They are also provided with year-round continued education for professional growth through increased access and exposure to industry leadership.

Jackie Otero, Full Sail’s Entertainment Business Program Director, says she’s proud and excited to hear about Whitney’s success. “This honor is particularly special because the IAVM is very well-respected in the entertainment industry. Our Event Management course has included past IAVM events as part of our curriculum, so it feels like we’ve come full circle to see Whitney on the short list of influential young people making a name for themselves within the organization.”
