While the city of Orlando may have some way to go before it can be listed alongside entertainment production hotbeds like Los Angeles and New York, companies like DEEB Studios certainly are doing their part to earn this city a spot on the map. Founded in 2006, the production company has provided its video, photography, and audio services for a number of clients, including the Orlando Magic, Subway, Checkers, and the Kennedy Space Center, to name a few.
Full Sail recently welcomed studio owner/photographer/director John Deeb to campus for the most recent DLXS lecture. Deeb spoke to students in the Entertainment Business Auditorium about the inner workings of the company, how his crew got their start, and what drives them to create work that has earned the company recognition at the National Addy Awards and the Cannes International Advertising Competition. He also offered advice for students looking to find work in the industry, and participated in an open Q&A session with members of the audience.
DLXS is a quarterly event that brings in an assortment of design and design related industry professionals to share their knowledge and creative work with the Full Sail student body. Previous guests have included Bobby Jones (Founder/CEO of Purple, Rock, Scissors), Mark Nielsen (Creative Manager for Publix Supermarkets), and Nick Sambrato (owner of Mama’s Sauce).
