Full Sail recently welcomed 3D professional Rob Powers to campus to talk to students about his extensive experience working with 3D in film, television, and more, as well as what his job as Vice President of 3D Development at production company NewTek is like.
Speaking before a capacity crowd in the Full Sail Live Venue, Powers spoke about his background as an artist, detailed his beginnings in the industry, and spent a significant amount of time talking about his work on James Cameron’s Avatar, on which he served as a 3D artist and Supervisor of the Visual Art Department. More recently, Powers has continued his efforts as Virtual Art Department Supervisor on the Peter Jackson/Steven Spielberg animated feature film TinTin.
Throughout his presentation, Powers gave students a look at production assets and examples from throughout his career, all while offering his insight about launching a career in the entertainment industry after graduation. He also answered questions from the audience during a post-lecture Q&A session.
