Year in Review 2013: James’s Three Favorite Stories

YIR-james

Our Year in Review series features the best of life at Full Sail in 2013, highlighting award-winning grads, popular student work, industry guests, and more.

I’m a big gamer, and The Last of Us was among my favorite last-of-us-storyImagereleases of the year. Naughty Dog’s latest hit offered a complete package – everything I want in a game – with its edgy tone, affecting storyline, and visceral action. Speaking with Computer Animation grad Keith Guerette about his work on the project gave me (and hopefully our readers) an exciting peek into the attention to detail that helped created such a unique survival horror experience.

We declared October “Horror Month” on the Full Sail Blog, which horror-graphic-novels-storyImagegave me the opportunity to reach out to both graduates and faculty about one of my favorite genres. Instructors Roland Mann and Sid Williams from our Creative Writing program we’re invaluable in their knowledge. I spent a fun morning with them and discussing their passion for horror writing, including their picks for the Top 5 Graphic Novels.

Right before Thanksgiving Amy Cassell and I had the chance plush-studios-storyImageto visit Plush Studios, where grad and studio manager Ethan Curtis welcomed us with a tour through its recording and mixing facilities. Any chance to get out of the office and visit our alumni at their workplace is always a treat for me, and this particular visit was a highlight among a year full of great grad interviews.
