Ready for an event that’s surely unlike anything else going on tonight? Head on over to Urban Re-Think in downtown Orlando for the first installment of the Full Sail Reading Series. The series will feature readings by Full Sail faculty members that are illustrated by current Full Sail students.
Tonight’s featured readers include English Composition II Course Director Karen Price, who has written more than 40 nonfiction books; English Comp Associate Course Director Brett Pribble, whose short story Homeward follows a woman who travels ohm for her father’s funeral and plans to reveal a dark secret about his past while delivering the eulogy; and online English Composition Associate Course Director Amy Watkins-Copeland, who will be delivering a series of her poems.
“I’m a visual artist as well as a writer, and I’m very excited about how the Reading Series is combining visual and verbal art,” says Amy. “During Spring Break last year, I taught a continuing education class about ekphrastic poetry (poetry about visual art), so this is right up my alley. Knowing someone will be illustrating my work made me think hard about the imagery that I included in the poems.”
The featured student illustrators for tonight are Johnny Hall, Dillon Wire, and Arielle Goldfarb. The event starts at 6:25 p.m., with a suggested donation of $5. Visit Urban Re-Think’s website for more details, and see you out there tonight!
