The Black Student Union and the Producer’s Guild student clubs have teamed together to co-host an event to pay tribute to Black History Month tonight at the Full Sail Live Venue.
The Black Student Union plan to take audience members back in time to the 1920’s-era Cotton Club, a place in Harlem where people showcased their musical talent while rubbing elbows with jazz artists such as Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Dizzy Gillespie, and Billie Holiday. Students will showcase their musical skills while paying homage to this era in Black music.
After the jazz-themed portion of the evening ends, the Producer’s Guild will transition things into 2012 with a Beat Battle Competition, in which producers will go head-to-head with their tracks, allowing the audience to choose the grand prize winner.
The event runs from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and is open to all Full Sail students, faculty, and staff. See you there!
