On March 24, Full Sailors living locally have an opportunity to earn GPS points while taking part in a great, community event –Scooters 4 Hooters.
Scooters 4 Hooters is an annual charity ride and music festival, put on by Libby’s Legacy Breast Cancer Foundation. The non-profit provides comprehensive breast health care services to underserved communities in Central Florida.
The event includes a 22-mile, police-escorted scooter ride, a walk around Lake Eola, a scooter raffle, live musical performances, games, auctions and survivor tributes. A scooter is not needed to participate!
Full Sail’s Pure Motivation team is participating by helping with event setup and rider registration. (Click here to find out how to sign up as a volunteer with the Pure Motivation team).
About Libby’s Legacy and Scooters 4 Hooters
Scooters 4 Hooters was created to raise money for breast health care services and to send stage IV breast cancer patients on the trip of their dreams. According to Libby’s Legacy, last year’s event raised $124,000 for charity. This event’s funds, combined with other funding and a partnership with the Women’s Center for Radiology, has allowed them to give away 2,100 breast health services, diagnose 44 breast cancers and send five Stage IV breast cancer patients and their families on an all expenses paid cruise since inception.
“Ninety-two percent of our funds go directly back to helping those in need of our services,” said Libby’s Legacy volunteer Elie Harris. “We are an all-volunteer organization so we can ensure that our organizational costs are low.”
