Peter Jackson: High Frame Rate 3D Look Improved on ‘Smaug’
Friday saw the opening of the much-anticipated film The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. While there was controversy over the first film’s high frame rate (48 frames-per-second), Peter Jackson hasn’t backed down from using this same format with the second film. However, he explains here how he softened the film to make it look less like HD video and more ‘filmic.’ –Christine
