The Winter X Games Bring Emmy Statues for Two Show Production Graduates

For nearly two decades the ESPN X Games have been a platform for showcasing athletes and sports from outside the mainstream, and we’re proud to see that two of our Show Production graduates were recently honored for their contributions to the network’s winter competition at this month’s 34th Annual Sports Emmy Awards.

Alumni Mike Pope and Tim Bischof both received statues for Outstanding Technical Team Remote (audio) for their work on the Winter X Games 2012, which were hosted last January in Aspen, Colorado. Mike served as engineer in charge of the audio crew at the chilly four-day event, while Tim headed up the announce booth as a technical supervisor.

This marks the second consecutive Emmy for Bischof, who previously won in the same category for his work on the 2011 X Games. A singular achievement for those in television broadcasting, we’d like to congratulate both grads for this recent honor from their industry peers.

“It feels great to win a second Emmy so early in my career,” Bischof says. “This was my fourth year doing the X Games and now we’re traveling all over the world doing global events. Its a rewarding event because we’re often in such remote locations, and working against the elements to put together a great show.”

I blog a lot about the X Games on my BackGrinder blog and as I get more familiar with the totality of the event and broadcast I get more and more impress with the sheer scope of it and the amount of talent concentrated on bringing it all together.
