Studio CEO Jason Ross Speaks to Entertainment and Music Business Students

Studio CEO Jason Ross Speaks to Entertainment and Music Business Students

Last Friday, students from the Entertainment Business and Music Business bachelor’s programs were treated to an exclusive Q&A session with Jason Ross, owner of Trusun Media Studio. Jason’s company specializes in multimedia production and marketing—everything from web design to video production to audio engineering. Career Development advisor Jeff Villanueva, a longtime friend and collaborator, joined him.

The event was sponsored by the Entertainment and Music Business Excellence Program. Started in February of this year, the program is open to both online and campus students studying either Entertainment Business or Music Business. In order to join, students must meet several rigorous standards of excellence, including a GPA of 3.5 or higher and at least 10 hours of community service with a non-profit organization. Members must also complete a series of eight “excellence components,” additional assignments offered in each of their business courses.

“Each assignment is designed to give a deeper understanding of the course concepts,” says James Jessup, the program’s faculty sponsor. According to James, the program was born out of a desire on the part of Entertainment and Music Business students who want to challenge themselves.

Additionally, members can opt to pair up with incoming students as part of the society’s Excellence Mentor Network. Participants meet with new students regularly to help them successfully transition into campus life, and direct them to important resources.

“The students in the Excellence Program tend to be the best and brightest,” he says. “We support them in their endeavors and try to help them find new challenges to flex their academic muscles.”

Currently, about 100 students are involved with the program. Students who successfully complete the requirements are considered to have “graduated with excellence.” They receive a special certificate and a medal at graduation.
