Student Volunteers Assist ‘Miracle League’ Kids on the Baseball Field

Earlier this month, more than 40 Full Sail students spent a Saturday at the Orlando Field of Dreams, a baseball field designed to accommodate wheelchairs and walking devices. The student volunteers were assisting physically and mentally disabled children who are members of the Central Florida Miracle League.

“We mentored the kids. We helped them around the baseball field, tossed a ball back and forth, played bases and outfield positions,” says Jahi Nelson, a student in the Computer Animation Bachelor of science degree program. “Those who were unable to walk, we helped push their wheelchairs around the field.”

Jahi and the other volunteers were participating in Full Sail’s all-student Pure Motivation program. Jahi says he took the day off from work to join in.

“I never did anything like this before, and I was worried that I wouldn’t know how to adapt,” says Jahi, “but once I met my kids we connected on a great level. I had so much fun.”
