The Music & Entertainment Industry Student Association (or MEISA) is a nationwide group that brings students together with educators and leaders in the music and entertainment industries, and there’s a chapter right here at Full Sail.
“Basically, the idea is to draw students closer to industry professionals and get them ready to make contact and network with them,” says Jerry Waller, a Music Business Course Director and the club’s faculty sponsor.
The club’s board members host an open meeting once a month – usually on the fourth Thursday of the Full Sail month – which is followed by an open mic night at the Diesel Bean Cafe. Although the club was started solely by Entertainment Business students about three years ago, it’s starting to get a pretty good cross-section of members from across all degree programs, including Film and the Game School.
The club regularly tries to bring in guest speakers, including recent grads who return to campus to talk with students about working in the industry. There’s no fee to join Full Sail’s MEISA chapter, but if you want to be a part of the MEISA national association, there is an $18/year charge. Students interested in joining can send an e-mail to email@example.com.
