We’re fortunate to have influential video game studio EA Tiburon just a short drive from Full Sail campus in Maitland, Florida, which routinely provides opportunities to welcome innovators from the company to campus – including many our own graduates.
Among the most recent guests from the gaming giant was Nick Laing, producer in EA Sports’ Innovation and Incubation Group, who dropped by to speak with current game studies students. During the event, Nick broke down some of the different design processes he’s seen work for the studio as he’s helped develop new intellectual properties and emergent technology.
Nick’s visit was part of our August meeting of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA). The IGDA is a collective of programmers, artists and developers who gather together to promote the art, science, and commerce of video games.
These monthly meetings allow students to make connections with established programmers and developers. Notable guest speakers in the past have included Tim Huntsman (NBA Jam Extreme, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge) and John Romero (Doom, Quake).
