Last week, a handful of Film students had the opportunity to sit down for a private GPS Greenroom session with Ron Judkins, a sound mixer, writer, and director who has twice won the Academy Award for Best Sound for his work on Jurassic Park (1993) and Saving Private Ryan (1998). Ron’s other sound mixing credits include Lincoln, War of the Worlds, Schindler’s List, and dozens more.
Ron talked to students about his start in the industry, his work as a writer and director, what it’s like working with Steven Spielberg, and more. He was in Orlando for the Florida Film Festival, where the feature film he wrote and directed, Finding Neighbors, had its Southeast Premiere. After touring campus and chatting with students for an hour, Ron gave each of them a ticket to the screening of Finding Neighbors, which took place later that evening at the Regal Winter Park Village.
