Independent game developers Avalanche Studios have been in the press lately thanks to their work on the upcoming adaptation of director George Miller’s classic Mad Max film series. Simply titled Mad Max, their video game is an open-world vehicular combat titles and will release in 2014 for the Playstation 3 and 4, and the Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
Avalanche is based out of Stockholm, Sweden, with a studio also located in New York City, and we were excited this week to welcome three employees from the U.S. office to our campus. This group included Bryan Rodriguez, game designer and Full Sail Computer Animation graduate, as well as Francesco Antolini (game developer), and Ju Shim (human resources/recruiting).

The Avalanche team spent two days on campus meeting with both our animation and gaming students – looking at their projects, speaking about the industry, and revealing some of the design processes used at studio on current and past projects. This includes their previous hits like Renegade Ops and the Just Cause series.
