Fighting game fans got a treat this spring with the release of Injustice: Gods Among Us for the Playstation 3, Wii U, and Xbox 360. The title brought together a host of characters from the DC Comics universe for an all-out brawl – including Batman, Superman, the Joker, Green Lantern, and more.
Part of the production team that assembled this fan’s dream was Daniel Weiland, a cinematics animator at NetherRealm Studios. Dan is also a former Full Sail instructor for motion capture, and we were pleased to be able to welcome him back to campus as the latest guest speaker for our game studies students.
During the event Dan talked about his career in the animation industry, with topics covering pre-production, hand key capture and motion animation, and general life stories from his experiences working on top tier titles like the Jak and Daxter and Uncharted series, as well as 2013’s hit Injustice.
Speaking of the comic book brawler, the game also featured the work of Full Sail graduates like Evan Salas, associate designer at NetherRealm. You can read about his involvement in the game here.
