On Sept. 19, students got a glimpse into the fast-paced world of network news when Full Sail University welcomed to campus Tori Blase, Supervisor and Executive Producer of the CNN Domestic Newsroom.
Blase helps to produce several nightly news shows featuring news hosts Jake Tapper, Piers Morgan, Wolf Blitzer, Erin Burnett, and Anderson Cooper – whom she described as “quiet and reserved until you get to know him… with a wicked sense of humor.”
Blase described some of her day-to-day responsibilities as an Executive Producer – monitoring breaking news and recommending coverage, checking facts, approving scripts, vetting stories through CNN’s legal department, booking guests, and tweeting via @CNN.
“Some days are extremely stressful, but I love my job,” says Blase, a 20-year veteran at CNN. “Every day is different.”
She recommended that students interested in working with CNN consider applying to the entry-level positions of intern, tour guide, or video journalist – or going through the IRTS Fellowship Program.
