Full Sail is participating in next weekend’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer fundraiser at the House of Blues Orlando, and faculty and student volunteers are still needed. The concert and auction – which benefits the American Cancer Society – is being presented by Give ‘Til It Rocks, an organization founded by Entertainment Business Master’s Program Director Ron Cook.
“The university has supported the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk [in October] for the last three years,” says Ron. “This is the first year that we’ve added a concert event, which kinds of fits in with what we do at Full Sail.”
The event will feature a live and silent auction, along with performances from local bands All the Above and Token Fat Guys. Ron is looking for an additional 15-20 volunteers to help out, which is is next Sunday, September 9 at the House of Blues Orlando. Faculty and student volunteers will work a 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. shift, helping with guest registration, silent auction bidding, and raffle ticket sales.
To volunteer, faculty can sign up on the FacDev calendar and students can go through Professional Development by e-mailing email@example.com. Continuing Education credit for faculty and GPS credit for students will be given.
