Recording Arts Student Gabriel Valenciano Wins Full Sail's Got Talent

Dedicating his performance to his home country of the Philippines, Recording Arts student Gabriel Valenciano captivated the crowd with his singing and dance moves to take home the title of 2013 Full Sail’s Got Talent champion.

Gabriel is no stranger to the stage: His father, Gary Valenciano, is a multi-platinum recording artist, and before leaving to study at Full Sail, Gabriel (better known as Gab) was a popular entertainer and performer back home.

More than 500 students turned out to watch the annual talent competition, which featured nearly two dozen live performances, ranging from everything to whip cracking and belly dancing and spoken word poetry. Student hosts Melinda Rose and Eric King kept the crowd entertained in between sets by giving away gift certificates and other prizes from the event’s sponsors.

In second place was R&B singer Lyric, who performed Beyonce’s “Best Thing I Never Had” and in third place was Planetary Funk Machine, a four-piece band that blended funk music with several other genres in their original songs. The top three acts each received an iPad Air, donated by Full Sail President Garry Jones.
