This past Saturday, Full Sail and the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra teamed up for the first time ever to present Symphony in HD: Live at Full Sail University, the orchestra’s annual fundraising gala. This was the first time Full Sail has ever hosted a symphony on campus, and the first time the orchestra has included high-tech visual effects with their classical performances.

Besides providing the Full Sail Live Venue for the private event, Full Sail helped produce the performance, with faculty and students creating animation, photography, lighting effects, and a virtual opera set to serve as backdrop and complement the classical performances. Among the evening’s highlights: celestial images choreographed to the music during Holst’s Jupiter & Mars from the Planets, a reel produced by Computer Animation students during Dukas’ Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and a performance of Mozart’s Queen of the Night aria “inside” a virtual opera set.

After the symphony – which included a three-course dinner catered by Arthur’s and a live auction – guests headed outside to Full Sail’s backlot to mingle and enjoy the music of the Ola Gerronti Trio. Check out some photos from the event below:
