In FSBlog’s Just Launched feature, we talk to brand new Full Sail graduates, right out the door from graduation, about what’s next for them as they head out into the workforce. This month’s Just Launched graduate is Sean Palomino.

Name: Sean Palomino

Degree Program: Entertainment Business

Graduation Date: October 4, 2013

First start in the industry: I started my career in video games working customer support at Mythic Entertainment on Warhammer Online and Ultima Online. Then I moved over to Bethesda Softworks, where I was a QA tester on third party products. Their parent company Zenimax Media purchased id Software, where there was an opportunity I took in their QA department. I was later invited to join their production team on Doom 4 and Wolfenstein: The New Order. Now I have just come over to Epic Games.

Getting hired at Epic: I started talking to them in August of this year, and between interviews and visits it finally happened – I just started this Monday (September 30). Luckily they allowed me to take time off and come down to my graduation ceremony. I have kids and want to set an example for them, so coming down for that was important to me even though I was an online student.

On choosing online education: When I first started in the program I was a QA tester at id Software and I wanted a degree that would help me gain the skills and knowledge to get into more of a leadership position, and it happened even before I finished the program with my new job at Epic.

Current role: I’m a developer/support manager. I provide support to users of Epic’s game technology. I also provide support to the internal development teams, and some of the other departments like marketing and public relations. Our users utilize the Unreal Developer Network, which is an internal system where I facilitate technical support. This role allows me to work with tons of different studios, and help people create amazing products.
