Brad Kalinoski – a visual effects artist with credits on more than six dozen films and television shows, including Fantastic Four, Spider-Man 2, and Avatar – will visit campus in November as the featured guest at two different events.

November’s In-Flight Movies (November 8 at 5:30 p.m. in the EB Auditorium) will feature a screening of the 2010 Academy Award-winning film Black Swan, which stars Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis. Following the screening, Brad will discuss his role as a 2D Supervisor on the film. The next day, he’ll be the guest speaker at Career Development’s Animation Industry Spotlight (November 9 at 4 p.m. in the EB Auditorium), where he’ll talk about what it takes to work at Look Effects, the visual effects company that he works at as a Senior Compositor and Recruiter.

“Brad wants to see what Full Sail has to offer the industry and share with students what it takes to work in the visual effects field today,” says Jamey Hopper, Career Development‘s Lead Film Advisor.

Brad has been nominated for a BAFTA (for his work on Black Swan) and for two Visual Effects Society Awards (one for Black Swan and the other for the television series Lost, which he worked as a compositing supervisor on during its final season). Most recently, he worked as a digital compositor on Moonrise Kingdom and the upcoming The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

Ahh, my old supervisor and coworker going back to my alma-mater to talk about projects we worked on together. Both cool and slightly surreal. Should be a good talk.
