Since graduating from Full Sail’s Recording Arts degree program in 1990, Marc Fishman’s returns to campus have always been special. It was a year ago that Marc was inducted into Full Sail’s 2010 Hall of Fame, recognizing his accomplishments as a sound re-recording mixer on films like Crash, Monster, Superbad, and John Adams, for which he won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Sound Mixing in 2008.
Marc’s most recent visit found him interacting with students over the course of two days, in a series of lectures, classroom discussions, and GPS Greenroom sessions on campus.
Each appearance provided students with the opportunity to interact with Marc and learn about his career path after graduating Full Sail. With a resume filled with many notable Hollywood projects (more than 130 films), Marc provided plenty of stories and tidbits about what it’s like to craft the soundscapes that accompany the big screen, weaving together music, sound effects, and dialogue into one seamless mix. In some of the stops during his visit, he also gave students a look at some of his mixing sessions, demonstrating his techniques and use of various plug-ins and effects. Marc also offered students tips for getting a foot in the door in the film industry after graduation.
