Starting this Friday, Full Sail is kicking off a monthly series of guest lectures with some of the school’s successful, award-winning grads. The evening sessions (which will also be live streamed for online students) will give students the opportunity to hear about each graduate’s career journey since leaving Full Sail and allow them to pick their brains about what it takes to stand out in their respective industries.
While some guests are still to be announced, confirmed so far are Film grad and 2013 Hall of Fame Inductee Larry Katz (July 11), Recording Arts grad and 2010 Hall of Fame inductee Leslie Brathwaite (July 25), and Recording Arts, Film, and Digital Media grad and 2009 Hall of Fame inductee Jayson Whitmore (August 8).
- Larry Katz is a Second Assistant Director with credits on dozens of television shows and films, including Captain America: The First Avenger and X-Men: First Class. He got his start as an assistant director in the exclusive Director’s Guild of America’s Training Program. His latest credit is as Key Second Assistant Director on the highly-anticipated Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which premieres this weekend.
- GRAMMY Award-winning, Atlanta-based mix engineer and producer Leslie Brathwaite‘s credits span the world of hip hop and R&B, including work with Jay Z, Mary J. Blige, Ludacris, and more. One of his most recent credits was on Pharrell’s hit single “Happy,” which was nominated for an Academy Award earlier this year.
- As the co-founder of California design company and motion graphics studio Royale, Jayson Whitmore‘s work has been featured in major campaigns for companies like Nike, JetBlue, and the E! cable channel. Royale recently opened a new digital-focused office in Seattle and rebranded the city’s iconic Space Needle.
