Grad Nate Selvidio Working on This Weekend’s Primetime Emmy Awards Broadcast

More than two dozen Full Sail graduates were credited on Primetime Emmy nominations this year, including 2008 Full Sail Show Production grad Nate Selvidio. But instead of sitting back and enjoying his Emmy recognition, Nate’s been working full time for the past month to help produce this weekend’s broadcast.

Nate was nominated for his work as a post-production associate on this year’s Academy Awards, and that’s also his title for this weekend’s Primetime Emmy Awards broadcast. Nate and a team of about six other associates and four editors are responsible for producing all of the content during the broadcast that is not live footage, including the nominee packages and the In Memoriam tribute.

“I started about a month ago, going through the show’s script, looking at the nominees and gathering all of the clips we need,” says Nate. “For the Emmys, it’s a lot of watching TV shows. By the time the show airs [on Sunday night] our job is pretty much done.”

After the broadcast, the team will work for about two more weeks, editing content for international re-airings and delivering archival content to the networks.

Nate moved to California in January and landed the gig on the Academy Awards broadcast through a friend. Since then he has worked on telecasts for the Billboard Music Awards and the BET Awards, in addition to the upcoming Emmy Awards.

“I like doing these types of shows because it’s more challenging,” says Nate. “Each show is different and you get to work with different producers.”

The month or two-month long jobs also give Nate time to work on projects through the company he co-owns with fellow Full Sail grad Justin Geiger. Impulse Creative Group creates entire tour packages for artists, taking care of everything from stage and lighting design to video content and production management. He heads out in two weeks to tour South America with the rapper Pitbull. After that, he’ll hit the road with Snoop Dogg.

“I’ve had a lot of fun out here,” says Brandon. “It’s been a crazy, whirlwind experience.”

The Primetime Emmy Awards air this Sunday night, September 23 at 7 p.m. on ABC.
