This Saturday and Sunday, the Enzian Theater will host its 21st annual Brouhaha Film & Video Showcase, presented by Full Sail University. The showcase features 47 locally-produced films and videos from Florida independent filmmakers and film schools statewide. A handful of films from this weekend’s showcase will be selected by local industry professionals to screen at next year’s Florida Film Festival, and the weekend competition will feature an Audience Award as well.
Three films in this year’s festival have ties to Full Sail: We Could Do This in Sanford, a student film about a group of friends who decide to start a film festival, was directed by current Film student David Kuskie; Marching to Sanford, a documentary about a group of students who marched from Daytona to Sanford to protest the Sanford Police Department’s response to the Trayvon Martin shooting, was directed by Film department Course Directors JP Eason and Christopher Ramsey; and Night of Swing, a documentary about legendary jazz drummer Gene Krupa, was directed by 2012 Film graduate Dylan Harrington.
Four different short film program showcases will be shown throughout the weekend, at 11 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. We Could Do This in Sanford plays on Saturday at 11 a.m., while Marching to Sanford and Night of Swing screen on Sunday at 1:15 p.m. For more information, visit the Enzian’s website.
