Since it opened its doors last October, Orlando’s Amway Center has quickly become one of the most exciting and stunning additions to the city. The sports and entertainment venue is home to the Orlando Magic, and will host concerts from Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne, Usher, Josh Groban, and Tim McGraw later this year.
A select group of Full Sail students recently had the opportunity to take a guided behind-the-scenes tour of the building and learn more about the operation and technical logistics of the facility. Client Services Coordinator Michael Loulan led the students through many sections of the building, including areas of the lobby, VIP suites, and other branches of guest services and amenities. Students were also granted access to the control room and audio room, where they were able to take a look at the system that provides some of the stunning visuals during Magic games and other special events.
Orlando Magic Assistant Director of Broadcast Technology & Services Rick Price answered many of the technical questions that students had, and gave a live demonstration of how the screens inside the bowl of the arena are operated.
The Amway Center has offered many internship opportunities for Full Sail students, and many of the employees who work in some of the departments that were included in the tour are Full Sail graduates.
