Full Sail recently honored the memory of colleague Ani Gasti with a benefit that incorporated two of his passions – animals and art. The “Ani, Animals, & Art” event saw faculty and staff members donating hundreds of pieces of art, pottery, and jewelry for an art sale that raised $15,000 for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of Central Florida.
More than 300 individual items were featured in the art show and sale in Full Sail Live 1, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, photographs, toy figurines, and hand-made jewelry. Larger pieces were also featured in a special section of the show and sold during a silent auction.
Gasti, who passed away in July, worked as a Course Director for the Entertainment Business Bachelor of Science degree program, and most recently as the Director of Faculty Development at Full Sail. He was a regular donor to the SPCA, and his terrier dog Chico was a rescue dog.
“I think this art show is a great way to remember Ani and all he did not just for our students, but also our faculty and the animal world,” said Bill Galbreath, Director of Arts & Design. “This is a great way to celebrate all three of those [things] in one event.”
