Orlando film enthusiasts were treated to some of the best locally produced films and videos this weekend at the Enzian Theater’s 20th Annual Brouhaha Film & Video Showcase – and two of the event’s big winners were Full Sail-related submissions.
Captain Fin follows the story of Hannah (Spencer Locke, Resident Evil: Afterlife), who receives a stack of her father’s letters from her mother on her 18th birthday. Discovering that her father (Steve Dumouchel, Recount) has been in prison, she goes to visit him to rekindle the relationship. The short film (written/co-produced/directed by Full Sail Directing Lab Specialist Kevin James O’Neill and co-produced by Lighting Course Director Rob Tuscani) was worked on by 12 faculty members and 17 students. Captain Fin was selected for an Audience Award, and will be featured in the 2012 Florida Film Festival in April.
Soup – a documentary focusing on the trials and tribulations of Melbourne’s Daily Bread Soup Kitchen – was written and directed by Mark Wright as a film project prior to graduating from Full Sail’s Film degree program. Soup was a Jury Selection Winner and will also be screened at next year’s Florida Film Festival.
Congratulations go out to this year’s Brouhaha filmmakers – we’ll see you at Florida Film Festival!
