The Reliant Center Parking Lot in Houston, Texas, is about to fill up with thousands of excited music fans as the Vans Warped Tour kicks off its summer jaunt around the United States. Over the next two months, the tour will hit more than 40 cities around the country, featuring 100-plus bands performing on nine different stages.
One of those stages is the Acoustic Basement presented by Full Sail University, a fully-tented, intimate space where sing-alongs are highly encouraged. Featured artists on the Acoustic Basement this year include Anthony Raneri (Bayside), Nick Santino (A Rocket to the Moon), and Front Porch Step, but one of the coolest things we’ve learned about the Acoustic Basement in years past is that you never know who’s going to decide to show up and play a set.
Setting up and striking down essentially what is an entire miniature city in the span of 24 hours is an operation that requires the hard work of dozens, and this summer, four Full Sail grads have been hired as interns to help. Tatiana Mieux (Entertainment Business) will help take care of day-to-day operations in the production office, Allan Casillas (Show Production) will work alongside the stage manager on the Acoustic Basement, and New Media intern Christian Pokrywka (Film) will be creating video content throughout the tour, which will be shared on the official Warped Tour blog.
Warped Tour attendees will also be able to learn more about Full Sail at the school’s tent, which will have a Raven MTX touch screen console, a retro arcade featuring student games, and more. Fans of Florida-based rockers Mayday Parade will also be happy to hear that the band will be participating in a daily autograph signing at the Full Sail tent.
To celebrate Vans Warped Tour’s 20th anniversary, more than 30 performances from today’s first stop will be live streamed online starting at 12 p.m. EST over at vanswarpedtour.com/webcast. We’ll be sharing updates from the road all summer long and and giving away tickets to various dates over on our Facebook page.
