The Eagles’ “Hotel California” is a staple of classic rock, garnering the same receptive response from audiences today as it did when it was released in 1976.
Full Sail recently welcomed former Eagles guitarist Don Felder to campus for an exclusive solo performance and presentation for students and staff members. Before a capacity crowd in the Full Sail Live venue, Felder recounted his beginnings as a musician in Gainesville, Florida, his years as a session guitarist in Los Angeles, his stint playing with Crosby and Nash, and of course, his time in the multi-platinum, GRAMMY® award-winning group, the Eagles.
Felder also performed a string of Eagles hits, including “Already Gone,” “Peaceful Easy Feeling,” “Tequila Sunrise,” “Take It Easy,” and, of course, “Hotel California.” After the performance, Felder answered questions from the audience, revealing his songwriting process, as well as touching on topics such as the importance of copyrighting musical compositions, his views on the current state of the music business, and even how the band felt about “Hotel California” getting used in the comedic cult classic The Big Lebowski.
Afterwards, he met with students and signed autographs of his new book, Heaven and Hell, at a meet-and-greet in the lobby of Full Sail Live.
