Back in March, the ESPN Radio Think-a-Thon gave students the opportunity to pitch ideas to a team of ESPN executives about how to enhance the ESPN Radio experience in the car. As part of the prize, the two winning teams – made up of Sports Marketing & Media student Nathan Dixon and Entertainment Business students (all now grads) Fernand Milord, Blake Indof, Karon Cooper, and Jonathan Simpson – combined forces and traveled to ESPN’s headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut, last month to share their ideas with more executives.
According to Education Director Eric Saperstein, who also traveled to Connecticut, the students were asked by ESPN to update their presentation with new parameters, which sent them back to the drawing board to develop new concepts and hone existing ideas. In addition to the presentation, the students also got the chance to tour the ESPN campus, meet with ESPN talent, and have dinner with an executive from the Audio team.
“The students were presenting to many high-level executives from ESPN Audio, and when they were finished, they continued with their meeting and involved the students in the discussion,” said Eric. “It was pretty amazing.”
