Course Director Jeremy Burnum Writes Song About Orlando’s Homeless Community [Video]

Jeremy Burnum, an Audio Workstations Course Director in Full Sail’s Recording Arts program, had just recently joined local group the Timothy Lewis Band when they were approached by Full Sail Film student (and now graduate) Fabian Morales. He was looking for someone to pen a song to complement his documentary, Take Me Home, about Orlando’s homeless population.

“We don’t really write music to sell,” says Jeremy, explaining why the band was a great match for the documentary. “We all have a passion to write music that makes a difference in the community. We write songs for things that hit home to us.”

Jeremy wrote most of the song, with help from lead singer Timothy Lewis on the lyrics and melody, and they presented it to Fabian, who loved it. The video was shot in Orlando and directed by Fabian, and is interspersed with footage from the documentary. The song and video have helped the group gain a good amount of recognition locally, including being shown on a recent Local 6 news broadcast.

“The Homeless Coalition has asked us to use the song,” says Jeremy, “And we’re going to be releasing another video for it soon.”

Take Me Home brings to to light the lives of the homeless in Central Florida. Fabian is currently promoting the documentary and working on releasing it nationwide. For more information about the film, visit its Facebook page.
