It’s safe to say that Full Sail Recording Arts grad Jordan Young – better known as DJ Swivel – has a had a pretty great year. He has engineer credits on three tracks on Jay Z’s latest album, Magna Carta Holy Grail, and earlier this year, he nabbed his first GRAMMY for his work as engineer on Beyonce‘s “Love on Top,” which won Best Traditional R&B Performance.
We’re excited to announce that – in between his time working with some of the biggest names in hip-hop and R&B – DJ Swivel will take part in an exclusive online Q&A on Full Sail’s Facebook page, this Thursday, August 8, from 2-3 p.m EST. He’ll be reading questions posted by participants and answering as many of them as possible. If you’ve ever wanted to ask DJ Swivel about his work or the music industry, here’s your chance to do it.
“I can’t wait to share what I’ve learned since my time at Full Sail,” says DJ Swivel. “I hope that this Q&A can provide some unique insights into what it’s like in the music business.”
Besides working with Jay Z and Beyonce, DJ Swivel has produced, mixed, and engineered tracks for dozens of other artists, including Kanye West, T.I., Mariah Carey, Rihanna, DJ Khaled, Britney Spears, and Fabolous. We’re sure he’s got a lot of industry advice to give and stories to share, so start thinking about your questions now. And in the meantime, check out this video from DJ Swivel’s visit to campus back in late 2011.
