We just found out about the Black History Month Celebration of Excellence, a series of events happening in February hosted by the Black Student Union.

“We are excited to display how black history is everyone’s history, as we look forward to participation and inclusion of all Full Sail students, faculty, and staff,” says Marcus “Dr. A” Alexander, an Internet Marketing Master’s Course Director and the Black Student Union’s faculty advisor.

Some of the highlighted events include:

  • The “Don’t Sleep! Social Awareness Panel” on February 7. All students are welcome to attend and discuss various issues, including everything from love and relationships to entertainment. More details.
  • The “Young and Getting It” Business Seminar on February 12. Local industry professionals will speak about their career experiences. Scheduled to appear are Vanessa Belmonte, the CEO/Founder of CultureClimax.com and Smith “DJ Smitchell” Mitchell, a DJ at CBS Radio affiliate 102JAMZ. More details.
  • The Cotton Club Closing Ceremony on February 28. A student cast of performers will take the audience back in time to the Cotton Club, a 1920’s Harlem establishment where some of the best jazz artists used to hang out. More details.

Students can check the Black Student Union’s Club Page on Connect for details on these and other events as they’re added or updated.
