Behind the Music with Former Lonestar Frontman Richie McDonald

Full Sail students and staff recently had the opportunity to attend a private performance and Q&A session with Country Music Association Award-winning songwriter Richie McDonald in the Full Sail Live Venue.

As the former frontman for multiplatinum country group Lonestar, McDonald was the voice behind songs such as “I’m Already There,” “Smile,” and “No News.” He also wrote songs like “My Front Porch Looking In” and  “Let Them Be Little.” During his performance at Full Sail, McDonald performed intimate versions of these songs and others on both piano and acoustic guitar.

And what’s any musician without his touring manager? Accompanying the singer/songwriter was Full Sail Show Production graduate Kevin Lammons, who has worked with McDonald for over eight years as both a live sound engineer and tour manager. The duo spoke about life on the road, the art of crafting the perfect song, and the new opportunities for revenue streams in the ever-evolving music industry. Following their presentation, both McDonald and Lammons took questions from students during an open Q&A session.
